This course provides an overview of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). Established under Title IV of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), the PBGC provides an insurance program for defined benefit plans that the PBGC, under certain circumstances, will pay guaranteed benefits from a defined benefit plan that terminates without sufficient assets to pay participant benefits.
